India Paradise, located on Ottawa Street, has put together a special menu for the week-long celebrations with 9 new menu items. We put ourselves to the test and tried them all out just for you. Work is hard…

The special menu is currently available for the rest of this week. Here’s a look at the 9 dishes on the special Diwali menu at India Paradise:

 

DAHI PURI

The perfect mouthful of deliciousness. Mini puri shells are topped with onion, boiled potato, chick peas, mint chutney, curd and tamarind chutney. It’s so light and makes a great shareable appetizer.

 

DAHI BALLA

Don’t know what vada are? They’re fried fritters, usually made from vegetables are potatoes. India Paradise offers up theirs doused with curd and their really really ridiculously good mint chutney.

 

HARIYALI CHICKEN TIKKA

No, this chicken didn’t go all Hulk. Hariyali is a green curry popular in northern India made with coriander, mint and green chillies. The chicken on the menu is grilled with cilantro, mint paste and added with fried onions and bell peppers. It’s a fantastic dish that pops with colour visuals.

Dont’ eat meat but want to try the flavours of Hariyali? Order the Paneer! Paneer is an Indian cheese That’s fresh, creamy, and normally unsalted. With this Hariyali dish, it’s grilled with cilantro, mint paste and added with fried onions and bell peppers.

 

TANDOORI PRAWNS

Who doesn’t love a little spice with their food? These Tandoori Prawns are marinated with yogurt, spices and cooked on skewers in tandoor.

 

CHICKEN LABADAR

In India, the term “Lababdar” means “a strong desire of something and complete surrender to it”. It’s meaning for this dish is to signify a complete surrender of your taste buds to it. That’s some pretty confident stuff. The chicken is covered in the chef’s secret creamy butter tomato sauce before being cooked in a Tandoor.

 

ACHARI CHICKEN

When it was explained to me that the Achari Chicken was cooked with pickling spices, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was bold, blissful and definitely in-your-face. A good dish for those who enjoy some heat, ingredients like cinnamon and the chef’s secret Achari Masala make this a unique menu item that’s worth trying.

 

KEER
