The stress and complexities of operating a hospitality business during the pandemic have struck again.

Rico Taco Mexican Street Eats, which introduced most Windsorites to birria tacos, will be closing their brick and mortar location in 2 weeks. The owner will be taking the winter to recharge and refresh after what has been a mentally and physically demanding 2021.

Originally only available on the Southwest Ontario festival circuit, Rico Taco saw a huge burst in popularity after taking part in the Outdoor Food Hall in 2020. It was such a huge burst, in fact, that they opened a physical location in Windsor, Ontario.

However, the severe staffing shortage led to a lot of stress and unpredictability for what the restaurant could offer, so the owner will now be taking the winter off to recharge himself.

WHERE CAN I GET RICO TACO BEFORE THEY CLOSE?

There are two ways that you can enjoy their food before they close their doors. The first is to visit or order from the Rico Taco location on Tecumseh Road East.

The second is to visit them at the Outdoor Food Hall in Lanspeary Park on Saturday, October 23, 2021, for Tacos & Tequila. This is the absolute final day for the food hall and Rico Taco is offering up Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos that aren’t on the restaurants menu, so it’s a special treat.
