Let’s have some tacos and tequila! Here’s everything you need to know about the Outdoor Food Hall and Night Markets happening this weekend.
SO WHAT EXACTLY IS HAPPENING?
In short, it’s two great events running side-by-side as one.
WindsorEats is hosting our final Outdoor Food Hall weekend of the year within the outdoor rink at Lanspeary Park, while adjacent to us YQGMade and YQG Pop-Ups are hosting an Outdoor Night Market.
The events will take place on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 5pm to 11pm and on Saturday, October 23, from 3pm to 11pm.
There will be a Tacos & Tequila theme to the food hall, with several varieties of tacos and tequila cocktails available in addition to other beverages.
When you arrive to the Outdoor Food Hall and Night Market, you will be asked to show ID and your name will be logged and/or matched with your vaccination status. Yes, you will be required to show full vaccination status to enter as per City of Windsor mandate even though we’re outside.
In accordance with regulations, all guest names and contact info will be recorded upon arrival should they need to be contacted in the future should an outbreak occur.
WHERE DO I ENTER & EXIT?
There is a single entry and exit point within Lanspeary Park itself on the east end of the rink off of Ottawa Street.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO GET IN?
It’s free! Yep! There’s absolutely no cost to get in.
WHAT FOOD WILL THERE BE?
Rico Taco and Thirsty Butler will be on site serving up a variety of different tacos to enjoy, including Al Pastor, Carne Asada, Smash Taco, and even an Oreo dessert taco.
The full menu can be viewed here. You can even use it to order takeout.
WHAT KIND OF DRINKS WILL THERE BE?
In addition to the standard sodas, we’re curating a special list of tequila cocktails, wine and beers from across Windsor-Essex to serve up with your meals. All beer and wine will be served in disposable plastic bottles or cans to minimize contact with individuals.
Some of the cocktails we’ll be serving up are Margaritas, Sweater Weather Margaritas, Tequila Caesars, Mexican Mules and more.
WILL THERE BE MUSIC?
Of course! It’s so nice to be able to enjoy live music in a festival setting again! While inside the rink we’ll be playing a curated playlist that screams Tacos & Tequila, out in the night market we’ll have a whole crew of musicians slated to play throughout the weekend.
WHAT ABOUT THE WEATHER?
What about it? The Lanspeary Rink is completely covered protecting you from all the elements, so that means the Outdoor Food Hall portion of the event willl be rockin’ it rain or shine! It seems like it will be a little chilly, so we recommend bringing your toques and mitts.
MASK IT UP
Not only do we want to keep each other safe, but it’s mandated that everyone on site wear a mask when not eating/drinking.
While moving into, about the space, or on your way to the loo, please wear your mask. Most importantly though, remember that we can’t see your smile so don’t forget to let your eyes sparkle!
GIVE EVERYONE THEIR 6 FEET
We have this big space so let’s make sure we’re spread out and give some long distance high fives. Once again, this is mandated onto us by the Windsor Essex County Health Unit and Province of Ontario. To keep events like this continuing for the enjoyment of others, these mandates must be followed.
HOW BIG A GROUP CAN I BRING?
Your group size won’t matter unless you plan on entering the rink for the Outdoor Food Hall. Parties up to 6 will be able to sit together to eat. Each entire group will be seated at their own picnic table.
Don’t try to be sneaky sneaky either. And no, tables will not be permitted to be pushed together.
YOU JUST CAN’T SANI ENOUGH
Us and our team will be working hard to keep things clean, but don’t forget to hit that hand sani yourself. It never hurts.
Stay seated, you earned it! Just to keep things safe and to follow all health and safety protocols, we are going old school with table service. This also means no strolling around. All guests on site must remain seated at all times unless they are walking in, heading to the washroom, or leaving.
All this means staying with the party you rolled in with. We know it can be a challenge, but if you see your BFF across the room stay where you are.
We are so excited to have you back. Our last Tacos & Tequila night was a bit overwhelming and took us by surprise with over double the number we expected in attendance.
As a result, we’ve made some adjustments (ie. more staff) to help speed up service.
Also, we have strict capacity limits imposed on us for: 1) the rink/Outdoor Food Hall itself; and 2) the plaza/Outdoor Night Market. These capacity limits may lead to some lineups, which while we dislike them, are out of our control.
HOW DO I ORDER MY FOOD?
Digital menus are online and can be accessed on personal devices. Orders will be taken and paid for online.
The Outdoor Food Hall is a cashless event. All orders and payments are done entirely online through your own personal mobile device. You can place the order for your food and drink for yourself or for the entire table. It’s entirely up to you.
As a result of multiple food vendors being on the same menu, all dishes and drinks will be brought to your table when they are individually ready. This means not all orders will arrive to your table at the same time.
WHAT WILL SERVICE BE LIKE?
Each customer table accommodates up to 6 people from the same social circle.
Tables are only able to accommodate parties no larger than 6 and tables cannot be pushed together. Please stay with the party you rolled in with. The ordering system does allow you to order for other peoples table numbers, though. So you can say hello by sending over a nice little treat.
All service will be table service and dishes will be brought to your table when they are individually ready. This means not all orders will arrive to your table at the same time.
Each table will be clearly marked for ordering and service identification.
CAN I ORDER TAKEOUT?
Not in the mood for dining on the patio but still want to enjoy the food? You can order your food online and head to a separate area to pick up take out orders. It’ll be located on the south entrance of the rink, off the parking lot on Langlois. Or you can even just walk up to the takeout area and order via debit or credit.
All food and drink at the event is cashless. If you’re within the rink for the Outdoor Food Hall, all orders are placed online and through your mobile device. This means make sure your phone is charged up so you can order and indulge in some amazing food and drink. If you’re outside in the Outdoor Night Market area, there will be a separate walk-up bar that will accept debit or credit cards.
Each retail vendor in the Outdoor Night Market will have their own policy for payment, meaning they may or may not be accepting cash, credit or debit.
WindsorEats will be following all safety protocols requested by the Windsor Essex County Health Unit. Customers will be checked for their vaccination status prior to entry and only those with full vaccination will be permitted to enter.
Masks must be worn at all times when not eating and/or drinking and social distancing protocols must be observed.
