VIRTUAL CONCERTS

There are so many artists out there right now offering virtual concerts, from local musicians doing live acoustic sets on Instagram to internationally renowned acts. Order in, get cozy and listen to live music in your own home. Be sure to check in on your local favourite artists as well. Some of them have been doing amazing live concerts from their homes!

Tiny Desk Concerts, hosted by NPR, are also a great way to let your mind escape to some incredible and intimate performances.

DO SOME ONLINE KARAOKE

Let’s all pretend we’re at our favourite karaoke bar or that we’re the lead singer in our favourite band. WindsorEats has started Friday Night Karaoke on Instagram and it’s nothing short of amazing. Join us each Friday at 8pm. Grab a drink, something to eat and show us your skills. You can either participate or just sit back and watch others in all their glory. The question is, can you top the group that had backup dancers last week?

DRAW ME LIKE ONE OF YOUR FRENCH GIRLS

people are resorting back to old hobbies they enjoyed, and drawing seems to be a popular one. There are some great online doodling sessions happening right now.

Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems – Mo Willems invites YOU into his studio every day for his LUNCH DOODLE. Learners worldwide can draw, doodle and explore new ways of writing by visiting Mo’s studio virtually once a day for the next few weeks. Grab some paper and pencils, pens, or crayons and join Mo to explore ways of writing and making together.

Weird and Wild – our friend TJ is hosting a drawing session all about bugs! A great learning experience for kids in grades K-3.

JUST CRY IT OUT

This option might not be the most productive, or even that healthy, but crawl into the fetal position under the side table in your bedroom and just let the tears flow. Just let it all out.

It’s ok. we understand. Plus, the loud, awkward sobs will likely stop everyone from interacting with you.

PLAY RETRO VIDEO GAMES ONLINE

If you have a yearning for classics, head over to Retro Games Online, an amazing resource of retro games that you can play for free on your web browser. They have many classic games from NES, SNES, GBA and more. Even better, you can save your progress through the games to play later.

With over 8000 games available, I’m sure you can find something to entertain you for a bit.

LEARN SOMETHING NEW

If there was ever a time to catch up on all those online courses, now would be it. I’ve been taking the time to brush up on marketing strategies and catching up on seminars I’ve book marked and always meant to get to but never had the time. Head over to Teachable. There’s literally any topic available.

GET PHYSICAL

CRAWLSPACES AND CLOSETS ARE THE NEW PENTHOUSE SUITES

Find a crawlspace or a closet in your home and pack it with enough supplies to get you through the next month or so. Just go in and don’t come out until it’s all over.

KITCHEN QUARANTINE

Now is as good a time as any to become the home cook you’ve always dreamed of being. Learn new recipes or pick up some new skills. We’ve been watching some of our favourite chefs online including one I’m currently loving with Italian chef, Massimo Bottura. We’ve also been posting videos from local restaurants and foodies sharing their favourite dishes.

WindsorEats is also working with local chefs and restaurants to provide tips, kicthen hacks and recipes for you to use since you’re likely cooking a bit more yourself while in isolation.

LISTEN TO OLAF READ YOU A STORY

Josh Gad has been reading stories online and it’s been awesome. Something about hearing a story read in Olaf’s voice is soothing to me. Lots of other celebrities are doing it as well.  Pick your favourite story and have a listen.

You can also follow Save With Stories on Instagram to see all kinds of celebrities reading stories.
