March Break is well underway and we’ve gotten a number of requests for things to do in the region. So we’re sharing our list of what we’ve got planned to keep those busy little hands busy.

Here’s a quick list of things to do in the region for March Break this week.

CANADA SOUTH SCIENCE CITY

From March 11-16, Canada Science City is open to the public from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Explore their live animals in the Big Lagoon, or feel what it is like to be in a human sized bubble!

Get hands-on with the exhibits and discover and take home your very own fossil in their Dinosaur Dig. They are located on 749 Felix Avenue. Visit their Facebook page for information.

 

WINDSOR CROSSINGS MARCH BREAK

Windsor Crossings have a variety of fun activities planned. On Tuesday, March 12, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm there will be inflatable toys and games, face painting and balloon twisting .

On Wednesday, March 13, 11:00am to 2:00pm, there’s mini golf, Zoo2You, face painting, balloon twisting and special character appearances. Check out their event link for exact times and location.

 

DEVONSHIRE MALL DINO-MITE INVASIOIN

From March 14-24, visitors can explore the animatronic collection throughout Devonshire Mall featuring a Tyrannosaurus Rex that moves and roars, a Stegosaurus, a Dimetrodon with a large back fin, a Raptor with fur, an Oviraptor with babies, a Dilophosaurus, a Triceratops and many more exciting dinosaurs, all brought to you by the Indian River Reptile Zoo.

 

EAT LOTS OF POUTINE

Do you have a love of poutine? Then hop on the Dirty Poutine Experience on Saturday, March 16. get your cheese curd cravings ready for the world’s only exclusively poutine food tour. Explore dark alleys covered with graffiti and learn historical Canadian facts on your way to taste a variety of different takes on Canada’s most well-known comfort food. Warning: This tour is dirty, tasty and gluttonous.

 

WINDSOR PUBLIC LIBRARY

We spend lots of time at our libraries and this week they’ve got loads of activities taking place. Check out their March Break Guide for all the fun things to do.

FREE SWIM AND SKATE AT WFCU

Glide through the break on ice with free skating on Monday March 11, Wednesday March 13 and Friday March 15.  The City of Windsor and Tim Horton’s are offering free family skate and swims at the WFCU Centre from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, Wednesday March 13 and Friday March 15.

Regular skating and swimming rules and admission policies apply.

 

MAPLE MARCH BREAK

John R Park Homesteead is hosting their annual Maple March Break. A family friendly maple event perfect for celebrating March Break. Tour the site with interpreters guiding you along the way. Learn the history of this sweet springtime treat as you help to make and taste maple sugar.

Arrive early, dress warmly, and be sure to wear boots! Help carry the sap using pails and wooden yoke. Try your hand at the brace and bit drill. See the trees tapped and the sap evaporating. $6 for adults, $4 for children (ages 3-16). $20.00 family maximum.

 

MAPLE MOON AT JOHN R PARK HOMESTEAD

Continue celebrating the maple season on Tuesday, March 12 by participating in an old fashioned sugaring off party!

Help the pioneers collect sap and boil it down by moonlight. Make taffy on the snow, join in the barn dance, linger for maple legends, and taste some sweet maple treats.  Visit their event page for more info.

SLIME TIME AT ART LAB

Making slime is so much fun! But what a mess, am I right? Don’t want to have to clean this up in your own house, but want to your child to indulge in the experience? Here’s your chance!

Combine and customize your very own batches of slime! Decorate a jar to take home your slime and have some fun! Art Lab has classes on March 14 and 15. Check out their Facebook page for additional information.

WILDLIFE FESTIVAL AT ST. CLAIR COLLEGE

March 14-17, St. Clair College Centre for the Arts is hosting a Wildlife Festival. Meet an armadillo, say hello to a sloth and get to know a gator! Make friends with an owl and skunk and many more amazing animals. There are 30 live animal exhibits, including a sloth, armadillo, alligator, owl, skunk, snakes, and so much more!

Single Admission is $14.50. After the fourth person in a group, each additional person is $10 with children 2 and under are free. Visit their event page for additional information.

 

MOVIE NIGHT AT POINT PELEE NATIONAL PARK

Join Point Pelee National Park for a screening of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax on Wednesday March 13! Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Visit their event page for more info.

 

CHIMCZUK MUSEUM

Visit the Chimczuk Museum and ake in the special travelling exhibition from the Royal Ontario Museum, Egypt: The Gift of the Nile and visit the local exhibition, Questers Collect.

The museum will be featuring both Ancient Egypt and St. Patrick’s Day themed crafts from March 9 to the 17. Scavenger Hunts will be available at both the François Baby House and Chimczuk Museum.

A 1:00pm guided tour of Egypt: The Gift of the Nile will be offered on Saturday, March 9 and Saturday, March 16.

Note: Museum Windsor hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 10am (11am on Sunday) to 5pm. Please also note, the François Baby House location is closed on Sundays. General Admission $5.25 (Family Rate of $15.50).
