A few days ago, WindsorEats and County Connect gathered some culinary stakeholders together at Foia Restaurant to discuss the importance of using local products and pushing culinary tourism. We had people like Trevor and Kim Loop from Jack’s Gastropub who offer and only local wine list, Janine from Taste Bud Bistro who is consistently sourcing local items for her menu and, in what turned out to be his “last supper”, Chris Ryan, the now former CEO of Tourism Windsor-Essex.

The meeting went well and there was a sense of enthusiasm with moving forward with a locally focused agenda.

As part of the meeting, Foia provided us with an absolutely fantastic meal which included a gnocchi in a lamb ragu sauce (the lamb was from Ewe Dell in Essex County) and stuffed chicken.

Expect to hear more in the near future about the projects WindsorEats and County Connect will be putting in place to showcase our region’s culinary greatness.
