Believe it or not, we’re into the final stretch of summer!

If you haven’t taken advantage of all the events and festivals that take place in around Canada’s southernmost city, Windsor, Ontario, what are you waiting for?!

August is packed full and fun and tasty events that we think you need to participate in. Here are a few that we think are can’t miss:


Jazz in the Park

Bring the family for an evening of music and community. On August 2, Jazz in the Park will take place at Wigle Park with performers, The New Standard.

Then on August 9, the concert series moves to Mary E. Bibb Park, behind Mackenzie Hall.

Finally on August 16, Austin DiPietro and friends will perform at Willistead Park

All performances are in Windsor, Ontario, and run from 6pm to 9pm and are free to attend. Be sure to bring some lawn chairs!

Our first Caribbean Night Party was such a huge success we’ve been bombarded with requests to do it again! So here we go!

Get ready to sway your hips and feel the rhythm at WindsorEats’ Caribbean Night Party on Friday, August 11, 2023!

Leave your worries behind as you step into a tropical paradise filled with infectious beats and sun-soaked vibes. From the moment you enter, you’ll be greeted by the mesmerizing live performance of a steel drum band and the enticing aroma of mouth-watering Caribbean cuisine.

Whether you’re sipping on some rum punch, trying your hand at soca dancing, or simply lounging, this night promises an fun escape. Grab your colorful attire and join us for a night of carefree revelry.

Explore the park after dark and experience the dark skies of Point Pelee National Park with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Windsor Chapter. You will have the opportunity to stay late and see what goes on after dark.

The park will stay open all night August 11 to August 12 for the Perseid Meteor Shower. 730pm to 7am.

Via Italia Bike Race

On Saturday, August 12, Windsor’s Little Italy will once again provide the back drop for another exciting edition of the Tour di Via Italia bike race.

Now in its 63rd year, the Tour di Via Italia is the oldest historical, international street race in Ontario. Watch racers from all over North America compete for the largest prize purse in Ontario.

The races start at 11am with the pro race beginning at 5pm.


St. Angela Merici Festival

 

Taking place August 12-13 side by side with the Tour di Via Italia, the St. Angela Merici Festival is a unique event to culminates with a candlelight procession carrying a statue of St. Angela through the streets. It really does harken the old world charm of the Italian community in Windsor.

In addition to the procession, the weekend will see an Italian cards (briscola and scopa) tournament, a street soccer tournament, live entertainment, and more.

On Sunday, August 13, enjoy a family friendly day in the park! Food, drink, live music, local vendors, free bouncy castles, free games, free face painting, yoga, new Sandwich Town merch, and more! WindsorEats will also be on site serving our Italian Cream Sodas!

All this is happening in the beautiful tree covered Paterson Park from 3pm to 7pm.

With margaritas and a DJ, this ain’t your average art gallery.

On the third Thursday of each month (August 17), from 5pm to 9pm, Art Windsor-Essex hosts AWE at Nights featuring art activities, food and beverage as well as lively entertainment. Being located along the riverfront and a prime location for sunset viewing, you can come on out for the beautiful views – both inside and out!

The Leamington Arts Centre is hosting another edition of the extremely popular Mill Street Market .

The second Mill St. Market of 2023 will take place Friday, August 18, along Mill Street West in Leamington, Ontario. Venture out for another family-friendly, free outdoor street festival featuring delicious street food, handcrafted items, craft beer and cocktails, local wine, musicians and artists from 5pm to 10pm.

Windsor’s only all-day urban street and culture festival, takes place in the heart of Ford City on Drouillard Road on August 19 from 11am to 10pm. This festival is packed with events and attractions such as mural painting, food, drink, live music, car show, skateboarding and plenty of local vendors for attendees to enjoy!

The event will include a street closure that will take place along Drouillard Rd. between Trenton St. and Richmond St. including some of Whelpton St. which houses 20+ of Ford City’s most iconic businesses.

This is an all ages event.


WALKERVILLE DISTILLERY DISTRICT NIGHT MARKET

 

Enjoy the night market on Friday, August 25 while shopping and dining the 22 market vendors and 10 food and drink vendors!

One of the summer’s loved events, the night market is free to attend; all ages welcome! Pups are welcome but must be kept on leash. The market runs from 5PM-11PM (Last call at the bar is 10:30PM!) and is located at 525 Argyle Road in Windsor.


D-TOUR DETROIT DIVE BAR TOUR

 

That’s right! While we normally run the tours from November to April, we’ve had an itchin’ to visit our friends in the Motor City again!

How does our D-Tour Detroit dive bar tour work?

First, we start off at the WindsorEats location, where you can arrive early for some food and drink if needed before departing for the Motor City.

Then, we hop onto a bus and cross the border to visit three Detroit dive bars. Don’t ask which, as we keep our constantly rotating selection of bars a secret.

While on the bus, between stops you can step up to the mic and belt out your favourite songs as we bring a karaoke machine in tow to keep you entertained.

Tickets are now available online. Hurry because they always sell fast!


Margaritas & Mojitos

On August 25-26, WindsorEats is hosting a Margaritas & Mojitos party!

We’ll be transforming our menu to be all about margaritas and mojitos with 12 different types of each of the two cocktails on the menu. The evening is free to attend.

On Saturday, August 26, Margaritas & Mojitos will coincide with our Doggy Days of Summer event from 12p to 6p to celebrate National Dog Day.

While subject to change, some of the recipes we’ll be slinging are vanilla margaritas, strawberry shortcake margaritas, jalapeno margaritas, green tea & cucumber mojitos, pineapple mint mojitos, summertime mojitos, blueberry mojitos, and more!

The part runs from 5pm to midnight on August 25 and 12pm to midnight on August 26.


Doggy Days of Summer

August 26, 2023 is National Dog Day and WindsorEats is celebrating with our Doggy Days of Summer!

Starting at 12pm, your fur babies are welcome as we host several puppy themed vendors on our patio. Photographer Syx Langemann will be on site from 3pm to 6pm to take free photographs of you and your pup, while you can also purchase caricatures of you and your best bud by artist April Hawkes.

The event is (obviously) pet and family friendly and confirmed vendors currently include The Hungry Pooch, April Hawkes Art, and Lucky Pups Bakery
