The 2022 Windsor International Film Festival has begun!
Taking place October 27 through to November 6, Canada’s largest volunteer-run festival will be filling 3 downtown Windsor, Ontario, locations with critically acclaimed films all day, every day.
What better way enhance the night out by enjoying a meal beforehand the film or afterwards to discuss what you just say with your friends and loved ones.
Here are some spots we think you should check out in downtown Windsor if you’re heading to the 2022 Windsor International Film Festival.

If you’re heading to an earlier film, be sure to check out Thyme Kitchen for their breakfast or brunch. A vegan and vegetarian friendly restaurant, try their Romesco Eggs Benny which is made with avocado, roasted red pepper sauce, poached eggs, spinach, hollandaise sauce, and coconut bacon and comes with fruit and potato hash.
Craft Heads Brewing Company

Craft Heads Brewing Co. don’t technically offer food, but, they do allow you to bring in food from anywhere into the brewery. Just steps from the Capitol Theatre, which is the headquarters for the festival.
They’ve even brewed a special beer just for the Windsor International Film Festival where a portion of sales from each pint will go to throwing the festivals volunteers a pizza party.
The brewery absolutely love the festival and even have a special room setup streaming trailers from all the films that will be shown.
Marathon Ethiopian Restaurant

Love love love love LOOOOOVE Marathon Ethiopian Restaurant! The flavours. The aromas. I’m drooling just thinking about it.
Depending on how many people you’re with, we strongly recommend getting a meat AND a veggie platter, grabbing some injera and digging in. You won’t be disappointed.
Roti Bowl & Soul

If you’re running late to have a full meal, swing by Roti Bowl & Soul and grab a roti for a quick bite. Around the corner, about a block or two away from the Capitol Theatre.
The Manchester

Eastwood’s Grill & Lounge

With a beautiful view of the Detroit skyline, not only does Eastwood’s have some great dishes to enjoy a full meal from, but drinks and dessert are also a thing here. Warm brownies, anyone?
Phog Lounge

Phog Lounge is a cultural icon in the city of Windsor and the next-door neighbour to the Capital Theatre. Not only was it named Canada’s best small live music venue, but lesser known is that they have a killer poutine on the menu (it’s the only thing on the menu).
The Loose Goose

With what is likely Windsor’s largest whisky selection, The Loose Goose offers a great pub-style atmosphere. They’re best known for their wings.
Terra Cotta Gourmet Pizzeria

Around the corner from the Capitol Theatre and next door to Craft Heads, Terra Cotta has been pumping out fresh made wood-fired pizzas for years now.
La Guardia

La Guardia has been cooking up traditional Italian cuisine in the downtown core for over 40 years now, so they’re clearly doing something right with their food.
