The 2022 Windsor Craft Beer Festival is fast approaching on October 14-15 in Willistead Park and the beer lineup is looking absolutely fire ?

Breweries and beers have been meticulously selected from across Ontario that are truly going to showcase unbelievable Ontario craft beers. Tickets to the festival are $29 in advance and includes $10 towards food and drink. Once the gates open each day, tickets will then be $50 cash at the gate.

Even with all these special beers, most (if not all) that can’t be found in the LCBO, there are a few that we’re just a wee bit extra excited to get our hands on.

Made with Chardonnay and ready to delight your nostrils and tastebuds, the IPA du Vin is a beer-wine hybrid that is heavily dry-hopped with Citra, Vic Secret and Nelson Sauvin. This 7% banger was conceived as an experiment to combine the aromatics of wine grapes and the aromatics of hops into a super-aromatic beverage. Did we say aromatics enough? Aromatics….

DARK STREETS OF LONDON ESB
CLIFFORD BREWING CO.

A popular seasonal from Clifford Brewing Co., the Dark Streets of London ESB is a 2022 silver-medal winner at the Canadian Brewing Awards. This Extra Special Bitter (English Mild) boasts delicious toffee, caramel and dark fruit notes and is beautifully balanced between malt sweetness and light bitterness. It packs an ABV of 5.2% and 35 IBUs.

HAPPY HOUR MARGARITA SOUR
Grain & Grit

With our margaritas our most popular drink at our establishment, how could WindsorEats not select a margarita sour as a must try?

Grain & Grit brewed a gose base beer, which is a salty sour, then added some blue agave and lime to kick it up a notch. The result is a vibrant lime and citrus sour with just enough salt to remind you of a salty rim. The agave gives the beer some added body and a hint of the tequila it might have been. Sharp lime and citrus aroma, with a pinch of salt. It’s tart lime flavour with salt and agave is absolutely refreshing and comes with a 5.8% ABV.

You don’t normally find this recipe made on this side of the Atlantic, which makes us super curious/excited about bringing it in.

Lagered for ages and naturally carbonated, this iteration features a leaner roast profile but still showcases quintessential dark chocolate, espresso, and floral character. The velvet texture and dry finish rounds off this traditional take on the painfully under valued Czech dark lager style.

PARADISE LOST SPICED CHERRY SOUR ALE
BLOOD BROTHERS BREWING

A 6% ABV seasonal, Paradise Lost is fermented on copious amounts of cherry. It’s then aged on a blend of spices to create flavours reminiscent of cherry pie and mulled wine. Pairs well extremely well with crisp air and good company, making this a match made in heaven for the Windsor Craft Beer Fest.

RISE HAZY PALE ALE
THIRD MOON BREWING CO.

Third Moon Brewing is all about their IPAs and they’re damn good at making them. Because of this, their flagship Rise Hazy Pale Ale is a must to get your hands on.

It’s a New England style pale ale brewed with oats and barley and hopped with our hand-selected Citra and Mosaic with a kiss of Cashmere to round it out. If you want a juicy, hazy fruit bomb that you can easily drink any time, this is it.

STAY RAD GRAPEFRUIT & BLOOD ORANGE RADLER
NICKEL BROOK BREWING CO.

Like things on the lighter side? A radler is always an amazing option and Nickel Brook’s is one to have. It’s a crushable grapefruit and blood orange Radler (a beer mixed with juice/lemonade) that is oozing with juicy citrus and a venomous crisp finish.
