Windsor’s first outdoor food hall has arrived!

Back in May, City Council approved moving forward with WindsorEats’ outdoor food hall project to support local restaurants as part of the City’s COVID-19 Small Business Action Plan. Now that the Windsor Essex County Health Unit is allowing outdoor gatherings of 100 people, the Outdoor Food Hall is a go!

So, how will it work? Starting September 4, 2020 and running every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, WindsorEats will be coordinating an outdoor food hall on the covered rink at Lanspeary Park that can accommodate up to 100 dinner guests. The Outdoor Food Hall would help showcase local restaurants and chefs, with a focus on those you may have missed over the last 6 months due to them not having a patio or space that accommodates for social distancing.

WHO’S COOKING THIS WEEKEND?

Each weekend will see rotating vendors to provide multiple businesses the opportunity to participate. This week (September 4-6, 2020) vendors include:

If the food hall proves to be a success, there is the possibility of extending the project into further weekends.

Businesses interested in participating in future weekends can contact WindsorEats directly. The Food Hall provides an opportunity to dine from multiple restaurants or local eateries in one outdoor setting. Most participating do not normally operate patios and would be at festivals and events throughout the region but have been unable to due to the current pandemic.

Appropriate social distancing and health and safety measures will be in place to ensure the safety of guests and staff. The rink floor will have appropriately distanced picnic tables. All ordering will be through a contactless online system which uses your own personal mobile device. Guests can make a reservation to dine in or for takeout.

Additional details regarding how to make reservations, what to expect when you arrive and a list of vendors participating each week will be made available on WindsorEats.

We’re excited to be back and can’t wait to see you!
