There’s a new BBQ joint in town, that’s cooking up smoked goodness with a twist: it’s Armenian BBQ.

Smokies BBQ opened their doors recently and have been pleasantly surprising guests with their charcoal-cooked dishes.

Here are 6 things we absolutely loved about our first taste of Smokies BBQ:

THE RIBEYE

Cooked to perfection over the charcoal. While the flavours don’t need anything else to compliment it, we still recommend trying some of their sauces made in-house with eggplant, peppers and more.

I never realized how great lamb chops cooked over charcoal could be.

THE RICE

Yes, I’m seriously talking about a side dish of rice. It’s made with garlic, cumin seeds, barberry and more and it’s absolutely delicious.

The man cooking your food is a character. Ask him to play his produced hip hop on the speakers in the restaurant for you. Better yet, ask him to sing for you right there on the spot.

Not every dish will be Armenian. They’ll have daily specials with different types of BBQ from different cultures and the Jerk Chicken is one of them. It’s the special on Wednesdays.

These kabob wraps, either beef or lamb, are massive. Definitely worth a try on your first visit.
