It’s January which means it’s wedding show season in Windsor Essex. With the Wedding Odyssey show coming up this weekend at the Ciociaro Club, we thought it would be fun to list a few of this year’s wedding trends that we love. (P.S. That’s Adriano’s wedding in the top photo!)

CAKE TRENDS

Florals on cakes are always on trend. Add that with splashes of rustic colours like this beautiful cake from Sweet Revenge Bakeshop and you’ve just combined two great trends in one.

Saskia Scott of Sweet Revenge Bake Shop says that while naked cakes are still going strong monochromatic themes like white on white or blush on blush with metalic accents are becoming popular.

MOBILE BARS

Since launching our Traveller mobile bar in 2015, we’ve seen this trend growing. The Traveller mobile bar will be at this weekend’s Wedding Odyssey at Ciociaro Club. We’ll be offering a 35% discount to anyone who books a minimum party of 100 people on the spot.

CELEBRATE OUTDOORS

Whether you are actually having your wedding outdoors or thinking about bringing the outdoors in, we’re totally on board with this trend. You know we love a good outdoor dinner (ahem…Dinner on a Pier I’m looking at you) so a celebratory dinner under the stars is a dream. We are also definitely loving the use of floral arches that make big bold statements.

DARK, DRAMATIC FLORALS

Speaking of florals, this trend is not just for cakes. Flowers are always play a significant role in weddings, but this year we’re seeing dark greens, large blooms. It’s stunning and makes quite an impact.

MINIMALISM

Some of us like it bold and flashy, others like it clean and simple. This year people are opting for the simple, minimalist look.

“Minimalistic is my favourite look, and it leaves your guests feeling welcomed and warm,” says Aubyn Evon of Little Bird Event Co. “The mixture of greens, with clean linens is the definition of simplistic elegance. By keeping things simple and natural looking, it really is such a statement – less really is more. More and more couples are opting to go down this route, and I could not be happier!”

ILLUSTRATED INVITATIONS

Personalization is everything and having invites that uniquely you add an amazing touch.

Of course, the details are important but don’t forget to make the time to enjoy the process as well as the big day.

A little help from your friends…or a wedding planner…goes a long way. Don’t overlook the value in hiring an event planner to help make sure all the details you want are in place and executed perfectly.

Stop by the Wedding Odyssey Jan 12-13, 2019 at the Ciociaro Club and browse all the great local vendors, jot down some amazing ideas and get started on that planning!

Wedding shows can be overwhelming so Aubyn at Little Bird Event Co has put together a survival guide to wedding shows.

Bonus Tip: Before heading out to a wedding show, be prepared. Many vendors offer discounts if you book on the spot. You can often book a photographer and other vendors at a great price if you have you’re date set.
