After more than ten years, the award-winning Wine Trail Ride cycling tours are getting a makeover.

When WindsorEats started the Wine Trail Ride in 2007 as the first organized cycling tour in the region, none of the wineries had restaurants, leading us to showcase the culinary delight of Windsor, Ontario and Essex County through a beautiful long table feast out in the vineyard.

The region has matured so much in these 11 years that several of the wineries have built new facilities and introduced dining to their repertoire. We looked at this as way for us to evolve the ride and showcase the true offerings the wineries have, while being able to expand the tours.

Starting on August 11, the Wine Trail Ride will continue to visit 3 wineries for 4 tastings at each, but, we’ll also introduce a progressive, roaming dinner as part of the ride. This will allow riders to enjoy the culinary delights of each of the wineries we visit.

We regularly receive calls asking to purchase Wine Trail Rides on weekends they weren’t scheduled. That will be something that’s in the past. By replacing the outdoor, long table meal, this also removes the dependence on perfect weather, meaning we will now be offering the Wine Trail Ride every Saturday through to mid-October.

We’re so excited about the revamp and hope you are, too. Tickets are $135 per person and include a bicycle, all wine tastings and food at each winery. This is an absolute steal when you consider the Wine Trail Ride has won provincial and national awards and that similar rides in other Ontario wine regions can cost $125 without anything to eat.
