Good Neighbour has finally opened it’s doors in Walkerville and we couldn’t be more excited! Over the last few weeks the restaurant made it’s transition from The Willistead to Good Neighbour and we were anxiously awaiting it’s rebirth. The menu focuses on small plates and is taking it’s inspiration from the popular hygge trend (a Norweigian word referring to coziness and comfort) .
We were invited to try the new menu and it did not disappoint. After ordering and eating our way through nearly everything on the menu, here are my 5 favourite plates you must try when you visit Good Neighbour.
GNUDI

These are gnocchi style dumplings made with ricotta cheese. Served atop kale, oyster musrooms, truffle and parmesan and swimming in a delicious pan sauce.
STEAK

This steak was melt in your mouth amazing. Seasoned with soy, chilli, rice wine and served with mushrooms, frites and aoili, it was
ZUCCHINI FRITTERS

I love a good fritter and these hit the spot. Served with a side of herb yoghurt
SCALLOPS
Scallops can be tricky to cook but these were perfection. Served with snap peas, mushrooms, prosciutto and a vanilla yuzu gastrique.
BEEF TARTARE

Not everyone is into tartare (and, let’s be honest, it’s doesn’t really photograph well!), but this was so good that I encourage you to give it a try. Striploin seasoned with yolk, chives and served with a side of taro chips and a smoked paprika mayonnaise and a dijon.
