April 11 is National Poutine Day, which is pretty much a national holiday here in Canada. Adults are calling in sick to work and kids skipping out of classes, parades are in the street. Ok, maybe not, but, it should be.
To celebrate this glorious, glorious day, we’re showcasing 4 amazing poutines in Windsor, Ontario that are featured on the world’s very first poutine tour, The Poutine Project.
We hope you’re hungry.
HOT LIPS
Phog Lounge

For those that like it hot, Phog salutes you! A thick gravy, hot peppers and a spicy pepperoni just heaved over-top some deep fried goodness. An added bonus is you can swing by late at night if the craving hits for this or one of their other poutine offerings.
GNOCCHI POUTINE
Bread Meats Bread

When you live in Canada’s fourth most multicultural city, you get to enjoy some incredible blending of cultures. Instead of fries, Bread Meats Bread serves this poutine as potato and ricotta gnocchi covered in gravy and pork crackling.
SHAWARMA POUTINE
Mazaar

Another culturally diverse take on the iconic poutine. Mazaar offers the twist of Middle Eastern flavours with a chicken shawarma poutine. We also need to add that poutine in a skillet is a brilliant touch.
MONTREAL SMOKD MEAT POUTINE
Malic’s Deli

Malic’s Deli is owned and operated by Montreal native, chef Alex Ethier, so you’re getting the real deal here. Add some of his signature Montreal smoked meat and you have yourself a meal fit for a king or queen.
