Curry vegan burger from Atmosphere Fine Foods

A vegan walks into a sausage shop and says to the owner, “Give me the best burger you’ve got.”

Thanks to Atmosphere Fine Foods, this isn’t as far fetched as you think. Chef Nav Sehmbi has created a line of vegan burgers that, as meat eaters, we have to say are incredibly tasty.

Atmosphere became known for creating great vegetarian and vegan dishes at the Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market. With a little nudge and support from Robbie Bornais of Robbie’s Gourmet Sausage Co., Nav began experimenting every day for a month with a vegan burger to fill a gap in the market.

He’s now officially launched two different vegan burger patties: a Curry and a Jamaican Jerk.

The Curry patties are a chickpea base mixed with curry spices, while the Jamaican Jerk uses a black bean base and has more heat than the curry burger.

The thing we loved about these patties is that you can cook them straight from frozen. Yup. Just place them straight from the freezer onto the grill and they come out with a nice little crunch. You can also pan fry them.

The patties are filling enough to even be used in place of a piece of meat without the buns and don’t need to be used as a burger. They’re very versatile and go great with Atmosphere’s Triple Play sauce.

Nav is already working on his next vegan burger. He teases saying it will be based off of BBQ flavours so vegans can enjoy the flavours of BBQ meat without the meat itself.

The vegan burgers are currently only available at Robbie’s Gourmet Sausage Co.
