It’s going to be raining sausages in Old Walkerville.
Robbie Bornais, owner of the popular Robbie’s Gourmet Sausage Co., was excited to break the news through WindsorEats that he is in the process of retrofitting a small commercial space into a boutique ‘saucisserie’.
The look and feel of the space will blend in nicely with the historic charm of the Walkerville neighbourhood with an anticipated opening of mid to late June.
Robbie says the main focus of the shop will be “to do local”. In addition to sausages made using local meats and local ingredients like honey, vegetables and more, he says customers can expect to find local mustards, sauces, sauerkraut, kimchi and local breads among others making it a one stop shop for a BBQ.
The saucisserie will also allow Rob to branch out his wholesale footprint further with purchasers in London and Ottawa that are already waiting to get their hands on his creations.
Sausages will be available both fresh and frozen.
If you recall, Robbie’s sausages have received some rave reviews, having been named some of the best sausages in Canada. He has 25 sausages already tested and approved by tasters and are ready to be sold with an additional 70 in his secret brainstorm booklet. He even took a sausage flavour idea we recently presented to him and took it to a whole new and amazing level of tasty sausage goodness.
But, shhh. Don’t tell anyone about the booklet. It’s a secret.
