Many of you know that Adriano and I have been working over the past year with the Bike Train‘s pilot to our region.  Well, it’s June and the Bike Train is getting ready make it’s first stop!

To celebrate and welcome everyone to our beautiful city and county, on Friday, June 18 WindsorEats is hosting a Picnic at the Point and we invite everyone to join us on for an evening at Point Pelee National Park!

Located 50 km (30 miles) south-east of Windsor, Ontario, Point Pelee National Park of Canada is one of Canada’s smallest national parks, and yet attracts approximately 300,000 visitors each year.

Each ticket is $30 (plus tax) and includes entrance into the park, a guided tour, a meal made with local Essex County products and live music.  Tickets can be purchased online in the WindsorEats Shop.

The event begins at 6pm and the meet up is at the White Pine Shelter within Point Pelee National Park.  Once you purchase tickets, an email with additional information will be sent to you.  Please note, tickets sales end two days prior to the event day.

The first Bike Train arrives in Windsor on June 17th and departs June 20th.  While this year has only two weekends as part of a pilot project, Adriano and I think it’s the beginning of something great.  We don’t want a Bike Train only twice a year….we want it every weekend! Or even every day!

We believe that it can be a catalyst to positive change in our community with the development of cycling trails and infrastructure that are not only for visitors but for people that live here.   Our goal is to make Essex County a cycling destination and we know it can happen.

So come out, join us and spend an evening in one of Essex County’s gems!  The event is open to the general public and whether you cycle, walk or drive your way to Point Pelee, everyone is welcome.
