The WindsorEats Wine Trail Ride has been nominated and is in the finals for the Ontario Tourism Culinary Experience Award!!   The Wine Trail Rides have have been nominated and shortlisted for the award and is amongst finalists from across Ontario!

The award, presented by the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation (Ministry of Tourism and Recreation), recognizes an individual, business or committee from Ontario who has, within the past year, created a new culinary tourism destination or attraction.  The winner of the award will be announced September 30 at the Ontario Tourism Summit being held in Windsor.

In the meantime (while we wait to hear who wins!) join us on the Wine Trail Ride!  In September we’ll be offering 2 rides. We’re getting close to harvest time and September is always a beautiful time to experience the county.

Saturday, September 19
This ride will visit 2 wineries:  Colchester Ridge Estate and Sprucewood Shores Estate.  We’ll also be making a special stop at the Holiday Beach Conservation Area for the Festival of Hawks.  This is a great local festival and celebrates the hawk migration through the area.

Saturday, September 26
This ride will visit 3 wineries:  Aleksander Estate, Mastronardi Estate, Pelee Island Estate.

Each Wine Trail Ride includes tastings at each winery, tours and a meal made with local Essex County produce.  A support vehicle will also be on hand and will be able to bring back the wine purchased from the wineries back to our starting point

There are only 50 riders per group so tickets are limited and sell quickly.  Tickets are $25 each and include tastings, tours, guide and a meal made with as much locally grown products as possible.

This year, we also have a tandem bike!  For $90 you get 2 tickets to the ride and the use of a 2 person tandem bicycle for the day.  This is a great option if you don’t have a bike or if you don’t feel like bringing your own.  We bring the bike to you! It’s a no hassle way of participating in the rides.
