WHAT ARE THE BEERS?

The first exclusive beer for the 2024 Masters of the Brewniverse they are submitting is the Flower Sour.

This kettle sour ale is flavoured with dried rose petals, hibiscus, rosehip and berries, giving a flowery aroma with a fruity background. It runs at 4.7%, and 9 IBU’s.

Brewery, Matthew Hand, wanted to create a beer that would represent spring, flowers and mothers day all in one.

The second beer the brewery submitted is the Simcoe Smoker.

A smoked red IPA and amber is colour, this beer is brewed with smoked malt adding a smokey flavour in combination with a caramel malt background, and moderately bitter finish. The Simcoe hops add a strong citrus and pine flavour. Together these create quite a unique IPA that is 6% with 45 IBU’s.

For this beer, Matthew went back to his childhood in Amherstburg for inspiration. Driving by or go camping at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Campground on Simcoe Street, he remembers smelling the fresh wood campfires in the air, which inspired the idea for a smoked IPA using Simcoe hops.
