Three new restaurants are slated to open around Windsor, Ontario, in the next few weeks that have got us doing a little happy dance.

First, in a pretty open secret, the GOAT Tap & Eatery will be opening up a third location in the Walkerville neighbourhood. The new location will be at the corner of Wyandotte Street East and Chilver Road and be able to accommodate up to 200 guests. Owner, Matt Komsa, says the doors are expected to open within 7-10 days.

Local food lovers may remember Rino’s Kitchen just outside the downtown Windsor core. Well, Rino Bortolin is getting back into the kitchen with his 3 sons and opening up Petrella’s Italian Street Food on Drouillard Road in Ford City.

They’ll be entering the space vacated by Ford City Coney Dogs, across the street from Sawyer’s Craft BBQ and Chance Coffee at 1009 Drouillard Road. They’re hoping to open the doors by the end of the month.

While the first two are brick and mortar, a new food truck will also be opening up by the end of the month at the WindsorEats Food Hall in Windsor’s Via Italia. Located at 400 Erie Street East, Kaeru Snack Bar will be pulling in and serving up Japanese street food, including Tokyo style Japanese fried chicken, Udon noodles, Yakitori, and more.

A regular traveller to Japan, owner Valerie Votto wanted to be able to share all of the amazing street foods and snacks she enjoys. The food cart is modelled after the traditional yatai (Japanese street food stalls) that you find in Japan.

Kaeru Snack Bar will be joining Rico Taco and Frylicious as the third truck in Windsor, Ontario’s, very first food truck lot.
