The Willistead, located in the trendy Walkerville neighbourhood of Windsor, Ontario, recently started offering brunch to rave reviews.

After sampling the majority of the items (best. job. ever.), we’re offering up this list of 5 unbelievably tasty items on The Willistead’s new brunch menu that we think you should try.

Huevos Rancheros

Two words. Chorizo sausage. Anytime you add chorizo into a recipe we’re sold. The dish is brought to your table in a cast iron skillet with some eggs still simmering in a zesty tomato sauce, along with fresh avocado and salsa and a handful of warm tortillas to fill up and devour. Vegetarians, fear not. This dish can also be made special just for you.

Breakfast Pumpkin Risotto

I’m such a huge fan of risotto that I almost always end up ordering it if there’s one on the menu. This risotto was one of the best I’ve had in the city. The pumpkin and spinach risotto is topped with a sunny side up egg and complimented with a smoked beet relish. Ridiculously good.

Breakfast Tacos

Tacos are trendy right now. Huge. Bigly huge. The Willistead took a breakfast approach with theirs, laying a fried egg with pepper salsa, a sprinkle of smoked cheddar and avocado puree on top of a soft taco wrap. Messy when the yolk starts running, so make sure you have your napkins ready. Well worth a couple egg stains on your shirt.

Southern Eggs Benedict

Yee haw! Chef Jim Renaud took some inspiration from The Willistead’s sister restaurant, Snackbar-B-Q, with this creation. Enjoy two poached eggs generously covered with a Jamaican jerk hollandaise, placed over-top corn cakes, duck confit and baked beans. Can you say, “yum”?!

What’s a brunch without something a little sweet? A generous serving of house made french toast that includes cinnamon and maple batter on a brioche style bread, with a dollop of pressed yogourt and a drizzle of fruit coulis.
