Arts & Culture

Make the day into a “tour d’art”. We’ve got some pretty amazing galleries, big and small, and it’s easy to navigate your way around town to visit them all. Pack a few snacks and drinks and tour the city and county.  Or take in a show. Kordazone’s production of Little Shop of Horrors is in it’s final run this weekend. I got a chance to see this last weekend and it’s absolutely amazing! This theatre is a gem in the city and the cast in this production will blow you away. Audrey II is quite spectacular too. Nothing says romance like a blood thirsty plant and a crazed dentist. Call ahead to ensure they still have seating!

Strike a Pose

Hire a local photographer and have a fun photo session! Many of us would be hard pressed to find a good photo of ourselves. Adriano and Jill (okay…it’s mostly Jill) are great at ensuring they capture moments in their life. They often hire a photographer and head out for the day. Pick your favourite spot in the city or county. It’s fun, makes you feel special and at the end of the day you have great photos.

Coffee Talk

Sometimes it’s not about the fancy gifts and exuberant plans one makes for a special occasion but more about just spending time together. Head to the local coffee shop and spend an hour or two sipping lattes and chatting. Taloola Cafe, The Little White Kitchen, Green Bean Cafe and Anchor Coffee House are all great places to have a cuppa, a bite to eat and stare lovingly into each others eyes.

So pretty!

Wine and Beer, Beer and Wine

Who’s doesn’t love a visit to wineries or breweries? Not this girl! Head out to the county and spend the day sipping local, award winning wines. Have lunch at Jack’s Gastropub or Mettawas Station Mediterranean Restaurant.  If wine ain’t your thing, then tour the growing number of breweries we have in the city. I always love stopping by Butcher of Kingsville to pick up a few hunks of artisanal cheese and chorizo or order from The Cheese Bar.

Enjoy the Outdoors

Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Pack a pair of skates, a thermos of hot chocolate and head to Charles Clark Square. This is one of my favourite things to do in the winter. Sigh. It’s like a scene out of romantic movie….if that movie included a trip to Snack Bar-B-Q for sweet corn fritters and a porknado burger.
