Some sweet, sweet corn from Lafferty.

Last night, I had what could possibly amount to the best corn OF MY LIFE. No exaggeration here.

Now, I had heard all this talk about the Lafferty corn. “Oh it’s so good!” “It’s the best corn ever!” Yada, yada, yada. So after work Chris and I headed over to the Lafferty corn stand on Dougall to pick up a few ears and give it a taste. We picked up some of the super sweet peaches and cream and the super-sweet golden nugget variety. And it was cheap. For $2.50 you can get 7 ears of corn. A little later I was wishing I had spent the $4.50 for 14 ears.

I boiled the corn in a pot of water and added just a wee bit of salt and took out the butter from the fridge with visions of smothering it all over the yellow niblets.  But when it was done and I took a bite….there was no need for that butter.  Honestly, I can’t even express to you the flavour that exploded off these things.  I’m salivating just thinking about it.

One of the three Lafferty corn stands.

Lafferty’s has 3 stands where they sell this sweet stuff plus the stand at the farm, which is located on Highway 3 by Sexton Road.  Aside from the Dougall Avenue location (it’s next to the McDonald’s), they also have stands in St. Clair Beach on Old Tecumseh Road and on County Road 42 by the airport.

And they’re open 7 days a week from about 9:30am to 6pm.  So get’em while there here!  Cuz there ain’t nothing better than sweet summer corn!
