While our Eat Your City Restaurant Week may have just concluded for 2012, there are still many culinary events taking place within the next month to keep you and your belly happy.

Wine Trail Ride cycling tour participants enjoying wine in the vineyard at Erie Shore Vineyards

Wine Trail Ride
The weather is going to be absolutely perfect for our Wine Trail Ride cycling tour this Saturday, August 18, 2012. With a high of 22° Celcius (73° Fahrenheit for our American friends) and sunny  skies, there’s no excuse to not enjoy a tour.

This weekends ride will include visits to North 42 Degrees Estate Winery (they’re not even officially open yet so you’ll be getting a sneak peak!), Klassen Blueberries and Erie Shore Vineyard.

The meal our riders will be getting is looking to be extra good, too. The main dish will be Pork Loin with fresh garden herbs and our sides will be cherry tomato cucumber salad and corn with garlic scape butter. We’ll finsih the dinner off with a blueberry mojito sorbet made with fresh blueberries from our stop at Klassen. Our vegetarian friends will enjoy Quinoa Stuffed Peppers in place of the pork loin. As always, we try to locally source our meal as close to 100% as possible.

Other rides take place September 15 (we’ll be visiting the Festival of Hawks), 2012 and September 29, 2012.

Tickets for the ride are $50 per person and are still available. Click here to purchase.

WindsorEats Walking Tours

Rye and Tequila and Beer, Oh My! Walking Tour

This tour would definitely be one of Don Draper’s favourites.

Take a walk around historic Olde Walkerville and have a taste of the beverages that are making the neighbourhood famous, from the Canadian Club whiskey featured in AMC’s award-winning series Mad Men and HBO’s Boardwalk Empire to Canada’s largest tequila selection at Walkermole.

You’ll receive an experience you won’t be able to have visiting these establishments on your own and you’ll even get to break bread with the Brew Master at Walkerville Brewery.

Guests will enjoy:

  • A tasting and tour of Canadian Club Heritage Centre
  • Two 12oz tastings, a fresh pretzel with dipping sauces and a tour at Walkerville Brewery
  • A flight of 3 tequilas and a tour at Walkermole Restaurant.
The next tour is Saturday, September 1, 2012. Tickets are $40 per person and available for purchase by clicking here.

Food will also be served at each location with participants being able to taste Sweet T’s famous Fried Chicken and Waffle or why Motor Burger was named to have the best burger in Canada by Reader’s Digest magazine.

The next tour takes place on Saturday, September 8, 2012. As an added bonus, our final stop will be at Rock Bottom which will be rockin’ due in part to the Sandwich Town Festival having all the neighbourhood roads closed off for extended patios and live entertainment in the streets.
