Love is in the air. Wedding season is here and there is lots of planning going on. Here are 6 wedding trends we see making their mark in 2018.

Creative Desserts Tables

Who doesn’t love a donut? Donuts are a big trend this year and we love how Sweet Revenge Bakeshop has been displaying them at weddings.

A Different Kind of Bar

Take your drink service to another level. The Traveller is a mobile bar that offers a unique element to any event. Since it’s launch in 2015, we’ve seen a growing increase from couples who are looking to add something dramatic to their outdoor event.

Bonus: If you’re planning a wedding, stop by the Wedding Odyssey at Ciociaro Club. We’ll be there with our Traveller and offering 20% off for anyone who books on the spot.

Drip Cakes

Naked cakes were quite popular for a few years (and still are). This trend just adds a little extra drama to that naked cake.

Food & Drink Stations

We all love a little snack at the end of an evening. Food and drink stations are an awesome way to provide guests with a bite after they’ve worked up a hunger on the dance floor.  Whether it’s a hot cider station to warm guests on a chilly day as they arrive to your event or a favourite snack towards the end of a great evening, set up with all the trimmings. The possibilities are endless: french fry station, popcorn station with a variety of seasonings and toppings, sushi bar, oyster bar, charcuterie and cheese, hot chocolate station.

Dramatic Florals

Deeper, richer colours are on the horizon for florals this year. We’re seeing lots of greenery and use of bold, beautiful flowers being used in bouquets and decor.

It’s in the Details

Adding a personal touch to a wedding always a leaves an impact on guests. Maybe it’s a vintage typewriter that allows guests to type out a personal note, a tablescape filled with photos of family and friends who couldn’t be there or including your blended interests into the overall theme. Infusing a bit of you and your partner into the day adds a wonderful, personal touch and leaves a lasting memory.

To add to that trend, hand lettering continues to grow in popularity as it offers a wonderful, personal touch to menus, invitations, seating charts and decor.

These are just a few trends taking shape for 2018. Make sure to visit one of the many wedding shows that are taking place. They are a great source of inspiration and provide an invaluable list of local resources.

Bonus: Before heading out to a wedding show, be prepared. Many vendors offer discounts if you book on the spot. You can often book a photographer and other vendors at a great price if you have you’re date set.
