Michelle Plunkett of Colchester Ridge Estate Winery gets in the holiday spirit

Ever wanted to sample the region’s award-winning wines inside a giant igloo? Well, take to the streets and head to downtown Windsor, Ontario, for the Winter Fest Wine Show on Saturday, November 30, 2013.

Held outdoors at the intersection of Ouellette Avenue and Pitt Street, the Wine Show presents an exceptional experience and boasts the participation of nine Essex County Pelee Island wineries including Oxley Estate Winery, Coopers Hawk Vineyards, Colio Estate Wines, Pelee Island Winery, North 42 Degrees Estate Winery, and Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery.

“Bringing our wineries downtown for Winter Fest is an excellent opportunity to remind residents of the jewel in their own backyard of Essex County and Pelee Island. The support of local residents for our growing wine region is vital for it to flourish and continue developing,” urges Tom O’Brien of Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards.

The Show runs from 1:00pm to 7:00pm and entrance is free. Wine samples and glasses available for purchase.

“The Winter Fest Wine Show is an experience for all those who love extraordinary wines and allows visitors to savour the best of our region’s wineries amidst the backdrop of winter fun in the Downtown Core,” says Gordon Orr, CEO Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island.

Winter Fest is presented by the Downtown Windsor BIA, and is comprised of a myriad of activities including a Holiday Parade at 3:00pm led by Grand Marshal Mr. Hockey himself, Gordie Howe.
