Downtown Windsor Farmer's Market

The Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market opens its fourth season this weekend with over 20 local vendors celebrating the best of Windsor and Essex County with fresh, local produce, area artisans and entrepreneurs, baked goods and prepared foods, and live entertainment.

The market’s grand opening on June 9, 2012 starts at 8am and will include free goody bags for the first 40 guests, a meet-and-greet with the Border City Brawlers, live entertainment and more.

A new addition to the market this year is WindsorEats member, The Butcher of Kingsville.

“The market is a great place for citizens to gather and choose from a great variety of amazing food that is grown right here in Essex County,” says General Manager, Victoria Rose. Rose also thinks that there is a big incentive for shoppers to be able to speak to the growers, “We are so fortunate that in our area, many of the farmers support organic, natural and low-spray practices. Customers can buy directly from the source and have all of their questions answered immediately.”

Events are planned throughout the season and the second Saturday of each month is always a special event day:

  • June 9 – Opening Day
  • July 14 – Love Your City
  • August 11 – Healthy Lifestyles Day
  • September 8 – Pets on Parade
  • October 6 – Closing Day Celebration

The Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market runs from 8am to 1pm every Saturday until October 6, 2012. Visitors to the former bus terminal at 44 University Avenue East can enjoy family-friendly entertainment while they shop for fresh produce, baked goods, handmade crafts and more.
