It is a sad day in the Windsor hospitality scene as the Walkerville Tavern announced today they are officially closing their doors for good.

Owner, Cara Kennedy, made the announcement today in a social media post stating that the landlord has decided not to renew their lease.

It is with heavy hearts and heavier tears that we announce the closing of our home away from home, The Walkerville Tavern. Unfortunately, our landlord has decided not to renew our lease.  But, this doesn't mean the end for us! When life gives you lemons, The Tav takes those lemons, finds a new location, cuts them up, and serves them once again, with a smile, like we always have. Our success was made possible by our team of dedicated and hardworking staff.  They are the glue that has kept us together and will continue to be with us as we move forward. To our devoted customers and most especially our awesome regulars, thank you for your loyalty.  You have become our family and we are truly grateful for each and every one of you. Lastly, and most importantly, we thank our loving and compassionate family for their continued support, guidance and humour.  You have brought us joy and strength throughout the years and most especially, through these past few months and we could not imagine a world without you. This is not a "goodbye". This is a "see you very soon" Until we meet again, thank you. Cara, Austin and Ben.

“The Tav”, as it was known to many, was a big supporter of local musicians and the community and its closure will leave a big hole in the Walkerville business district.

Cara and her team wanted to give “a huge shout out to the Walkerville community for their support and to our fellow neighbours and awesome BIA” for everything over the years.

We wish Cara and her team all the best in their new endeavours.
