Join us for Windsor’s first Pecha Kucha event, a fun-filled evening of words and images.
On February 19th, WindsorEats is participating in Windsor’s first talk20 at Artcite, 109 University Ave West. The discussion begins at 7:30pm. Each presenter will show 20 slides and have 6 minutes to speak on an issue. Topics range from urban planning to psychogeographic cities. Adriano and I are talking about…well…food!
So what is talk20? According to their site:
talk20 is not a lecture but a gathering, an open forum for the dissemination of ideas in art, architecture and design. Produced in cities around the world talk20 has emerged as a live catalogue of contemporary creative production that seeks to instigate a conversation within and without the design community.
While preserving it’s informal character, talk20 wishes to reflect and amplify an ongoing exchange between immersed in creative fields and a wider audience. As an event, talk20 looks to promote the cross-pollination of ideas and work, while becoming a worldwide seismograph of culture.
For our first Pecha Kucha evening, six presenters will speak about what they love about Windsor, what they hate, their perspective on the challenges currently faced by our community, how to fix it.
The presenters include:
- Mita Williams (Leddy Library, University of Windsor): “The City as Playground”
- Justin Langlois (MFA Candidate in Visual Arts, University of Windsor): “How to Fix the City: Social Practice in Windsor”
- Pina Ciotoli and Adriano Ciotoli (co-owners, WindsorEats.com): “Eat Your City”
- Andrew Foot (InternationalMetropolis.com): “Architectural Desecration”
- Tom Lucier (owner, Phog Lounge): “No More Bemoaning: Growing Windsor’s Creative Class”
- Rod Strickland (Professor, School of Visual Arts, University of Windsor): “Open Corridor”
