It looks like there’s a new Italian restaurant in the works for Windsor, Ontario’s Via Italia district.
Erie Street is about to get a little more delicious, and we’re here for it! Say “Ciao!” to Aventino Osteria, the latest culinary gem to join Windsor’s vibrant Via Italia. What makes this even more exciting? Aventino Osteria is the first new Italian restaurant to open on Erie Street in quite some time, continuing a delicious connection of the street’s rich Italian heritage.

Located at 555 Erie Street East, right next door to Italia Bakery and in space that once housed Mancuso’s Trattoria, the restaurant is currently under renovation.
So, what exactly is an osteria, you ask? Picture a cozy, welcoming spot where the food is made with love, the wine flows freely, and the atmosphere feels like home. That’s the essence of an osteria. Historically, osterias were simple taverns where locals could gather for a glass of wine and a hearty meal. Over time, these charming eateries evolved, blending casual vibes with high-quality, often regional, Italian cuisine.
Erie Street has long been the heart of Windsor’s Italian community, and with the arrival of Aventino Osteria, it’s clear that this beloved neighborhood is embracing its roots while welcoming a new era, with the recent addition of businesses like Rose City Beer Works and the soon-to-arrive, Phog Lounge, Craft Heads Brewing Company, and The Well.
