Walk for a Creative City!

Creative City Walk

Creative City Walk

Join us on Monday, May 18th as we walk for a creative city!  Windsor Endowment for the Arts in partnership with WindsorEats.com and Windsor Essex Walking Network are inviting everyone to come out and celebrate the arts with us.

Creative City Walk 2008

Creative City Walk 2008

We are encouraging all local arts groups, artists, arts advocates, children, seniors, families, and visitors to join us to celebrate this regions diversity, arts and culture together as a community on Monday, May 18th.

Health, sports, businesses, environmentalists, designers, chefs, musicians, actors, dancers….everyone is invited to join Windsor’s Creative City Walk.  Our efforts will reinforce our commitment to Windsor as a creative and cohesive community, while highlighting our diversity and strength – together as a group.

The schedule for the event is as follows:

9:30 a.m. - Meet up at the Morning Flight sculpture by Gerald Gladstone and warm up with Windsor Essex Walks
10:00 a.m. – Let the walk begin!
11:00 a.m. – Festivities at the Riverfront Festival Plaza including food and entertainment

Morning Flight By Gerald Gladstone

Morning Flight By Gerald Gladstone

This walk was held with great success last year and hundreds of people came out to show their support.  This year we are doing things a little differently.  The starting point will be at the sculpture Morning Flight by Gerald Gladstone (along the Riverfront).  We will be walking west towards the bridge and meeting up with the Mayor’s Walk (which is also being held that day).  The two groups will then join together, symbolizing a convergence and coming together of the two.  Together we will walk eastwards toward the Festival Plaza and join in on the festivities being held there.

This is also a great opportunity to fundraise for your organization. Pledge forms are available for download here.

We encourage everyone to participate, spread the word, invite your friends and get creative!  Bring your banners, tshirts, dress up in theatrical gear, paint your faces, play your instruments and bring your enthusiasm!

We want to show the rest of the city, county, country and world that Windsor and Essex County is a creative, artistic and cultural city.

For more information or if you are interested in having your group participate in this exciting event and show your support for Windsor, contact Pina and keep checking into WindsorEats for updated information.

You can also join in on the Facebook group here.  Help us spread the word and make this the biggest and best walk ever!

I am already setting my intention for our most beautiful weather day yet so that participants and organizers can truly enjoy a wonderful day.
