New to WindsorEats: Tredki Acres

WindsorEats is broadening its vision to include all culinary aspects of Windsor-Essex and we are very happy and excited to announce our first non-restaurant/winery member, Tredki Acres.

The other week Pina, Jillian and I made our way to the farm to speak with Dan and Nancy. They have a great vision for releasing the culinary potential for this region and are two genuinely nice people. Their farm is completely chemical and hormone free and they really try to make visits to Tredki an experience. Tredki is now regularly hosting visits from schools and showcasing the farm to children.  They have ‘Pick Your Own’ patches, hayrides, a cornmaze and more (all during the proper seasons, of course)!!

While we were there, Jillian and I purchased a jar of their Saskatoon Berry jam…deeeeeeeeeeee-lish!!

We highly recommend checking out Tredki Acres as they have great plans in store for our region, including running a farmers market in Amherstburg beginning in June 2010.

While you’re out there, it will also give you the perfect opportunity to check out the new windmill farm being erected. There is a great view of it from Tredki Acres. These things really are beautiful to look at.
