30 Days of Local Wine – Day Twenty: Colchester Ridge Estate Winery, 2008 Gewurztraminer Ice Wine (VQA)

This delicious 2008 Gerwurztraminer Ice Wine from Colchester Ridge Estate Winery was hand picked by the CREW staff and friends on a crisp December day last year. What makes this wine unique to the region is that CREW is the only winery in the Lake Erie North Shore wine region to make a Gewurztraminer ice wine.

In terms of flavour it is quite rich, bursting with exotic lychee fruit, ripe peach then rounded out with a hint of butterscotch. While it is a 21 on the sugar code, the sweetness of it is balanced by all of the flavour. The alcohol content sits at 10.4% and it is priced at $35.00
