30 Days of Local Wine – Day Fifteen: Aleksander Estate Winery, Cassis Fruit Wine (VQA)
Many people are unaware that Aleksander Estate Winery produces fruits wines, which I find quite humorous considering they are actually quite good at it. While this isn’t the first fruit wine listed on 2009′s 30 Days of Local Wine, this Cassis fruit wine from AEW is the first showcased that wasn’t from Black Bear Farms & Estate Winery.

This award winning, off-dry fruit wine is sure to please the senses. It is made from 100% fresh local black currants and has a powerful fruit driven aroma which precedes its dark, velvet feel and currant flavour. These concentrated currant aromas and flavours, however, are tickled with the scents of pomegranates and wine gums.
This fantastic fruit wine is great after a meal and probably best served with cheeses, fruit, pastries, cheesecakes and chocolate.

One of my faves. Certainly doesn’t last very long around here.
