New Initiatives to Boost Local Tourism

30 Days of Local Wine

WindsorEats.com is launching two new initiatives that will work to celebrate local resources and boost culinary tourism in our region.

December 1 marks the start of 30 Days of Local Wine. Throughout the month of December WindsorEats will highlight the region’s award winning wineries. Each day one local wine will be highlighted on the WindsorEats FoodBlog and include information from tasting notes to food pairings, recipes and more. 30 Days of Local Wine will encourage holiday shoppers to purchase wine from our local wineries.

WindsorEats encourages everyone to discuss each day’s wine by interacting on our FoodBlog, following 30 Days of Local Wine on the WindsorEats Facebook Fan Page and Twitter (#30dlw).

December 1 also marks the official launch of the new Wine Trail Ride site: www.winetrailride.ca. After winning the Ontario Culinary Tourism Experience Award in September of this year, the new and exciting site highlights Wine Trail Rides in a unique and interactive way.

To encourage increased length of stays and spending in the region, WindsorEats is introducing the Cycle and Snore packages which will include tickets to the Wine Trail Tide and one night accommodation at some of the county’s wonderful bed and breakfasts.

WindsorEats is also introducing the Wine Trail Ride for Charity. Non profits can now use the Wine Trail Ride as a fundraiser for their organization. The first ride will take place on May 29 as the Rotary Club hosts their event, Pedal for Polio.

“These exciting new initiatives are meant not only to celebrate Essex County’s culinary diversity and promote this region as a culinary destination but also to give a much needed boost to the economy and get people thinking about how great our local resources are,” says Adriano Ciotoli, co-owner of WindsorEats.com. “Our goal is to put Windsor-Essex on the map as a culinary destination and these two events will help us towards achieving that aim.”
