The famed German producer of the Schott Zwiesel and Zwiesel 1872 Brands of crystal, has led the glass industry for more than 100 years. SZ has had many industry firsts to its credit, including the first fully automated production of blown glass stemware in 1967. In the 1990’s, as the industry struggled with the environmental issues of lead and heavy metals, SZ was the first glassmaker to produce lead free crystal glass of superb quality and brilliance. Its latest breakthrough is the proprietary Tritan technique for producing extra-strong crystal stemware. Using this technique, SZ combines a patented mix of the finest raw materials, such as titanium and magnesium oxide for strength and brilliance and tempering the vulnerable points of the stemware, using a sophisticated process, to create a dishwasher safe, resilient and beautiful product.
