Taste of the Season at Mastronardi Estate Winery

Just in time for the holidays, Mastronardi Estate Winery presents a complimentary tasting of their newly released ’07 Merlot, ’07 Cabernet Franc, and ’07 Syrah. Try the wines on their own or pair them with MEW’s delectable wine infused cheeses which are also available for purchase. Light hors d’oeuvres will also be served and we encourage you to shop for a unique gift basket on display or order your own custom basket as they make great gifts

Back to the ‘Taste of the Season’, now!  There will be exclusive seminars including a much anticipated one by OntarioWineReview’s Michael Pinkus:

Schott Zwiessel Glassware Seminar with Wine Writer Michael Pinkus
Saturday November 28, 2009
2 Seminars: 11:00 a.m and 2:00 p.m.

Tickets: $35.00 per person. Advanced reservations only! Limited Seating.
For tickets, call 519-733-9463

Calling all wine glassware skeptics! Do you believe that any old glass will do no matter what the wine? Or are you someone who thinks that this glassware thing is just a lot of hooey? Let us help alter your thinking, the more skeptical you are the better!

Join OntarioWineReview’s own Michael Pinkus for this exclusive Mastronardi Winery event on Saturday November 28, 2009, as Michael takes you through a tasting that’ll open your eyes, mind and palate to the possibilities of what glassware can do to enhance your tasting experience. What’s more you get to take your set of Schott Zwiesel Tritan Technology Break Resistant Crystal glasses home with you as a memento of the event so that you can test them out on your favourite wines at home.
Seminar includes wine tasting, a complimentary set of Schott Zwiesel glasses for you to take home, and light hors d’oeuvres.

“The Vibrancy of Cool Climate Wines”
Sunday November 29, 2009, 12:00 p.m.
Tickets: $20.00 per person. Advanced reservations only! Limited Seating.
For tickets, call 519-733-9463

A memorable taste exploration by comparing cool-climate and warm- climate wines. This demonstration will reveal how cool climates wines are characteristically lively and fresh, and are described as elegant wines with lots of finesse. Light reception to follow.

In case you weren’t too familiar with him, here is some extra information about Michael Pinkus:

Michael is the head writer for OntarioWineReview.com; a website devoted to the love, enjoyment and promotion of the wines of Ontario and the wineries that make them. But he isn’t just stuck in one place. With his blogs like On the Road with the Grape Guy Michael looks at wines from around the world too. Michael is an informative and dynamic speaker, from seminars at events to lectures in classrooms – he has been known to speak to many a standing room only crowd. He is a member of the Wine Writers Circle of Canada … and a pretty Grape Guy to boot.

While we’re at it, here is a smidgen of information about Schott Zwiesel too:

The famed German producer of the Schott Zwiesel and Zwiesel 1872 Brands of crystal, has led the glass industry for more than 100 years. SZ has had many industry firsts to its credit, including the first fully automated production of blown glass stemware in 1967. In the 1990′s, as the industry struggled with the environmental issues of lead and heavy metals, SZ was the first glassmaker to produce lead free crystal glass of superb quality and brilliance. Its latest breakthrough is the proprietary Tritan technique for producing extra-strong crystal stemware. Using this technique, SZ combines a patented mix of the finest raw materials, such as titanium and magnesium oxide for strength and brilliance and tempering the vulnerable points of the stemware, using a sophisticated process, to create a dishwasher safe, resilient and beautiful product.

Tickets are to be purchased over the phone by calling MEW at 519-733-9463. Let them know you heard about this through WindsorEats, too!
