Walk, drink and be merry…all while learning some history, too!

The Drinks of Walkerville tour celebrates what is unique and exceptional about this company town located within Windsor, Ontario. With a resurgence of interest in the Canadian Club brand through hit television programs Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire, guests can learn all about a history of smuggling and gangsters during prohibition, all from a uniquely Canadian perspective.

Guests jaunt through historic Old Walkerville, the town that Canadian Club built, and learn about its architecture as well as some well known and not so well known tales and folklore associated with the neighbourhood, including its rich rum running history and visits by Al Capone. You can even touch a bullet hole purported to have been shot by Al himself.

You’ll walk through the hallways of the Canadian Club Brand Centre, home of Canadian Club whiskey, which was made popular again through acclaimed television programs Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire,and be brought through the history and brewing process of Walkerville Brewery. All this before finishing off the tour discovering the street art at The Willistead Restaurant.

Guests will enjoy:

  • A flight of whiskey and a tour of the world famous Canadian Club Heritage Centre, home of Canadian Club Whisky.
  • Jaunt through historic Old Walkerville learning about its architecture as well as some well known and not so well known tales associated with the neighbourhood.
  • Be brought through the history and brewing process of Walkerville Brewery while enjoying some brews.
  • Learn about the graffiti art behind The Willistead Restaurant before stopping in for a flight of bourbon.

Wine Trail Ride Cycling Tours

Get on your bikes and ride! Wine Trail Ride cycling tours

May 17 kicks off the official 2014 Wine Trail Ride season. Meander the through the farmlands along the Lake Erie coastline a la bicyclette and fall in love with Canada’s southernmost region.

For our first ride our friendly cycle guide will lead you along the historic Greenway as we visit and sample award winning wines from Aleksander Estate Winery, Pelee Island Winery and Black Bear Farms and Estate Winery.

We’ll then finish the day with our signature communal, long table feast, made from locally sourced ingredients.

If you don’t have a bike of your own, no worries! We have some you can rent including our popular tandem bicycles.Our bikes are built for comfort and outfitted with baskets and our support vehicle will trail close behind to carry any of your purchases to help make your ride easier.

Each Wine Trail Ride includes tastings, tours, a guide, support vehicle and a long table feast made with local foods produced in the region. They were also named the Best Culinary Tourism Experience in Ontario in 2009 and the Innovator of the Year for the Canadian tourism industry in 2010.

Explore the city one beer at a time.

There’s no better way to celebrate a ride than over some beers with friends. Cycle through the streets of Windsor, Ontario, while sampling beers at local breweries and pubs, enjoying our burgeoning craft beer scene. During your Bikes & Beers tour, we’ll introduce you to some of our favorite local craft beers as well as a few tastes of unique imports.
The short jaunt might work up an appetite, so we’ll also be feeding you some tasty treats along the way, too.

Single and tandem bike rentals are available for rent.

Guests will:

  • Enjoy  tastings and/or tours at 3 establishments across Windsor. Previous stops have included Walkerville Brewery, Motor Craft Ales and Rock Bottom, which has 30 beers on tap.
  • Enjoy samplings of food along the way.
  • Meander through some neighbourhoods of Windsor.
  • Enjoy a scenic cycle along Windsor’s beautiful waterfront overlooking the Detroit skyline with the opportunity to stop for photos.

Yes, they’re a restaurant, but Meadows By The Lake also owns and operates its own 24-seat shuttle bus, and can work with you in creating your perfect tour.

They offer both lunch and dinner wine tours that can accommodate 12-24 of you and your family and friends.

The tour includes pick up at  your designated pick up location, or at Meadows By The Lake. You will tour 3 extraordinary local wineries on the Lake Erie North Shore wine route and taste what this region has to offer. You’ll then enjoy a lunch or dinner at the Meadows by the Lake restaurant.

Food choices are taken at the beginning of your tour day, and at the end of your amazing day you’ll return you to your original pick up location.

The tour formerly known as Coffee & Tea Crawl, the Morning Stroll will wind you through historic Walkerville and experience behind-the-scene fun at some of our favourite food and drink establishments. Find out for yourself why Walkerville was named of the Canada’s best neighbourhoods by This Old House magazine.

Previous Morning Stroll tours have included participants learning how to pull the perfect espresso and making their own scones from scratch.
