Walkermole Mexican Restaurant is located in the Olde Walkerville district in Windsor, Ontario

Mexican cuisine in Olde Walkerville is a hot commodity.

Walkermole, which opened a few months ago, has become such a hit with residents that they are extending their hours and, starting this Sunday, February 19, 2012, opening for brunch.

“No one does breakfast like Mexican cuisine,” says owner Mark Boscariol. “It will definitely be unique and distinct. The most important part is this menu is distinct from the rest of the week in order to expand on the restaurants offerings and create more variety for our customers.”

Mark says he is most excited about the Barbacoa (braised lamb) and thinks it will be the signature item of Sundays. He’s also confident that the variety won’t trump quality.

“Chef Jonathan, Luis and Jeremy each have their own inspirations for each item,” he says. “All of them came up with their best dishes competing for menu placement.”

Mexican style breakfast is something Mark feels has been missing in the Windsor culinary scene. “First and foremost Mexican allows you to do so much more for breakfast than simply pour ketchup on your eggs and bacon,” he states. “The best analogy I can think of for combining breakfast staples with Mexican spices, peppers, cheese and other flavours is simply the difference between eating breakfast in black and white versus technicolor.”

The first brunch this Sunday will begin at 11:30am to 3:30pm with brunches after that date beginning at 10:30am. Depending on the response from customers their hours will expand as demand requires.
