Erie Shore Vineyard

If you’re heading out to the Festival of Ice happening at the county wineries this weekend, then Erie Shore Vineyard has a sweet special for you as February is their very own Ice Wine Month. Their 2006 VQA Vidal Icewine will be on special at half price for only $9.95 each. That is insanely inexpensive for ice wine.

The 2006 Vidal Ice Wine was aged in stainless steel and has a sugar code of (20). It is best served at 0-10 Degrees C (32-50F). This icewine has flavours of tropical, mango, peach and apricot, with honey notes, with a spine of acidity that cuts through the natural sweetness.

Here is a great recipe provided by Erie Shore Vineyard to use the ice wine:

Ice-tini Recipe

While we prefer icewine chilled, straight and unmixed as a dessert, we’ve seen many icewine dessert cocktail recipes. This one is still our customer’s all time favourites:

  • 1 ½ oz Erie Shore Vineyard Vidal or Cabernet Icewine
  • 1 ½ oz Vodka

Pour ingredients into an ice filled cocktail shaker and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a grape or berry.

Sounds yummy to me! You should also head on out to try some of their other wines to purchase to keep you warm as the cold air is finally hitting Windsor-Essex. If you’re heading out to the winery, here’s a reminder of their winter hours:

  • Weekdays: 1 -6 pm
  • Saturday: 10 – 6pm
  • Sunday: Noon to 5 pm
  • Other times by appointment
