An early look at the new Smoke & Spice location in Windsor, Ontario's east end

You may have heard when WindsorEats was the first to announce that popular restaurant Smoke & Spice was leaving their 1515 Ottawa Street location. Well, you can still get some of Windsor’s best barbeque at the Ottawa Street location until next month. In January, the southern barbeque restaurant be taking over the old Montana’s location at 7470 Tecumseh Road East (near Lauzon Parkway). Until then, they’ll be slingin’ smoked meat out of their original home until the end of 2011.

Their last day of business on Ottawa Street will be on January 1st, 2012. After that, they’ll take a few days to move some equipment and prepare their crew for the new location. Then, right around January 5th or so, they’ll open the doors to the new, larger Smoke & Spice.

Though it won’t be a “Smoke & Spice” location, the owners will still be operating it, but as something else. Owner Ryan Odette isn’t releasing any details yet, but they will be creating another restaurant concept to occupy the old space.

Take a look at the video above and the photo gallery below of the new Smoke & Spice location in the works. What I think is the craziest part of their new location is that their meat smoking capacity will more than double from 600lbs to 1300lbs!
