30 Days of Local Wine

The All Canadian Double Gold winning, best of category Chambourcin from Aleksander Estate Winery is a medium-bodied dry red wine with the aromas of bright red fruit, cranberry and red currants continuing with the flavours of sweet cherry lasting well past the swallow. This fruit forward red heightens the experience of all food.

Try pairing this wine with chicken dishes, roast beef and mushrooms, pasta in tomato sauce and yes, pizza.

“I really like Chambourcin, especially Aleksander’s Chambourcin as it consistently from year to year the bench mark”, says Gary Killops of the Essex Wine Review.

He also believes that the 2010 Chambourcin is a bit more “rustic” than any other Aleksander vintages. “It also offers more acidity than I remember other Chambourcin’s having”, he says. “This is a good thing, very food friendly wine and will pair well with a wild a range of dishes, from pasta and marinara sauce to grilled burgers.”
