30 Days of Local Wine

The first and only Ice Wine to be featured in 2011’s 30 Days of Local Wine, the 2008 Cabernet Ice Wine from Erie Shore Vineyards has been described by many in two words: pure excellence.

Retailing for only $24.95, a teal for Ice Wine, the Cabernet Ice Wine has a (22) sugar code and is best served at 0-10 degrees Celcius (32-50 Fahrenheit). It is a tastebud sensation with dark fruit and berry flavours.

Serve before a meal, on its own or as dessert , with berries, crème brulee, carmelized fruit and dark chocolate. You can also create cocktails with it:

While Erie Shore owners Alma and Harvey Hollingshead prefer Ice Wine straight and unmixed as a dessert, they’ve seen many Ice Wine dessert cocktail recipes. This one is one is one of their customer’s all time favourites:

  • 1 ½ oz Erie Shore Vineyard Cabernet Ice Wine
  • 1 ½ oz Vodka

Pour ingredients into an ice filled cocktail shaker and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with cranberries for the Holidays.
